Best Time to Visit

Kaziranga National Park experiences distinct seasons, and planning your trip at the right time is crucial for the best wildlife sightings.

The Best Time to Visit: November to April
During these winter and early spring months, the weather is mild and pleasant. The tall elephant grass dries up and is often subjected to controlled burning by the forest department, which provides clear, unobstructed views of the wildlife. Migratory birds also flock to the park during this time.

Summer (March to May):
The climate becomes warmer and more humid, but this is an excellent time for animal sightings as wildlife frequently gathers around the remaining water bodies.

Monsoon Closure (May to October):
Please note that Kaziranga National Park is officially CLOSED to tourists during the monsoon season. The Brahmaputra River floods the park, which is a vital natural process for the ecosystem, but makes safaris impossible. The park typically reopens in mid-October or early November, depending on road conditions.
